I got this email from my VPS Hosting company last week. Sharing this to our clients for their info as well.

The entire SSL Industry is undergoing a requirement to shorten SSL/TLS validity duration from 398 days to 47 days. The first phase has started and validity is now 200 days. This will again change to 100 days by March 2027 and finally to 47 days by March 2029.

What does this mean for you? Instead of re-installing SSL certificate once a year, that frequency will begin to increase. Starting later this year (2026) in approximately 180-200 days you'll need to repeat this action - and then again more frequently in 2027 through 2029.

This massive shift toward drastically shorter certificate lifespans is to improve security and force organizations to adopt automated certificate management.

To install a Standard SSL Certificate you need to —

1. Sign in to your SSL account and download the new certificate.

2. Follow the instructions to install it on your hosting account or server.

3. If you haven't already, let visitors know your site's secure with a free site seal. Once you're signed in, select your new certificate and choose the version you want to display from the Seal options.

4. Redirect your website traffic to the secure version of your site (https).
